Stop 2 - New Orleans.

Today (12.08.12) was our last day in New Orleans - I've really enjoyed our time here. We haven't done many "touristy" things but it has been lovely to be able to just chill out by the poolside and relax! The atmosphere here is a lot more laid back and chilled whereas when we were in New York it felt like a rush to see and do everything we wanted to do. The hostel here in NOLA has a pool and a living area with a tv so it has definitely felt like more of a holiday. There's also a cat who lives here at the hostel and he's big, fat, fluffy and very cute so have had cuddles with him!

On our first full day here Amy and I headed off into the French Quarter. Although it now seems to be filled with loads of strip clubs and dance bars it also had lovely little shops which sold beautiful artwork and traditional ornaments such as masks.
On Saturday night we went out to a jazz bar and watched a live band perform, which was super cool and an amazing experience.

Today we had a picnic in City Park which was lovely as the park is very beautiful. Afterwards, we went back to the French Quarter and walked around Jackson Square and stumbled across some live jazz music. We thought we couldn't leave New Orleans without trying some proper seafood so we went to this cute restaurant and had fried shrimp po-boy sandwiches! They were great!

Tomorrow evening we are leaving for Los Angeles which is our final stop before heading back home next Tuesday. Am really looking forward to the LA beaches but it will be a shame to leave here as I have really enjoyed my stay.
