JP - '5AM in London'

JP is an unsigned rap artist from North London. He's been rapping for 6 years and bases his rhymes around real life situations he has encountered and things that people can relate to. Rap is his passion and he believes music has the power to change lives and overcome fears. In 2008 JP won 'Unsigned Best Male' at the Hackney Empire and 'Best artist' at Live Vibe in 2009. Held at Sadler's Wells Vibe has brought together some of the UK's most exciting new dance and music acts to perform in a professional setting. He's a hard working musician travelling up and down the country gigging and is currently taking part in a competition called 'The Music Scene' where the winner will  be signed by a record label.  - JP has advanced to the semis which are to be held in June.
JP's latest offering is ' 5am In London ' which takes the riff from Drake's '5am In Toronto', and adds some heavier beats and baseline. The song comments on loss and the place of today's media obsession in our society and the unease this can bring, the value of true friendship and of hard work. The video, set in Camden London is made by Pacman TV, a freelance cameraman who has worked for ITV news. It's slick and professional and the message is powerful and easy to understand.
JP is currently working on an album entitled 'Trapped' which is due to be released next year.
Check out JP, he has something different, new and relevant to say ( and I like this song better than Drake's!)

Available for free download now is his mixtape 'Payne is Love' - http://hoodtapes.co.uk/jp-payne-is-love-mixtape/
