You never really realise how normal a celebrity is until you meet them. It's crazy how much someone can inspire you through words and rhymes.
Meeting J Cole was a very surreal and amazing experience for me because I never believed it would happen. I had already brought tickets for his concert in November 2011. A week before the gig I was just scrolling down my time line on twitter (like I do pretty much everyday!) and I came across a tweet that one of the J Cole fan based twitter pages had retweeted saying "Enter for a chance to win a meet and greet with J Cole at Koko in London on November 27th."...or something along those lines! Anyway, so I entered not thinking that I'd win or anything. On the day of the concert I got a text from Sony Music asking if I wanted these J Cole meet and greet tickets because I had won!! As I read this message I couldn't believe it...me..winning, it never happens! It was actually so overwhelming and exciting that I jumped out of bed screaming as loud as I could - waking up and scaring my mum as she thought something bad had happened!!
So, later that night we headed off to Koko in Camden for the show. The show was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible, everybody singing along and screaming with excitement. The fact that Koko was a small venue also made the whole thing seem a lot more up close and personal. The concert featured songs from 'Cole World: The Sideline Story' such as 'Mr Nice Watch, Lights Please' and 'Work Out.' Once the concert was over we waited for everyone to leave and walked towards the front of the stage where we met with the few other people who had also won the competition. We got taken backstage and were made to wait for what felt like 2 hours in J Cole's support act Dot Rotten's dressing room. At this point I was suffering from a major outburst of butterflies! Eventually, we got called into the room where J Cole was waiting for us. I dropped my bag on the floor and nervously walked over to him. He asked me how I was doing and gave me a huge hug. Meeting J Cole was truly monumental.
