Musicalize

Musicalize returned to Indigo at the 02 yesterday, May 4th after two previous shows earlier this year, with the likes of: Professor Green, Misha b, Maxsta, Ms Dynamite and Angel.
The night was filled with an impressive performance from young and unsigned Reece Robertson. Also to take the stage were established artists such as Lunar C, Scorcher and Ghetts. We also saw performances from Tyler James who many know from 2012's 'The Voice'. And headline acts K Koke, now singed to  Jay-z's Roc Nation and Kano.

Many of the artists had worked together before, both acting and musically. Ghett's released "On a level" in 2011 which features both Scorcher and Kano. Scorcher also featured in the 2011 series of Channel 4's "Top Boy" along with Kano and other rappers such as Ashley Walters.

The night was hosted by Aaron Roach Bridgeman (RoachMan) who is known for his work as one of SBTV's presenters. The night kicked off with a sharp performance from Reece Roberston followed by an adrenaline filled act by Bradford boy Lunar C. Scorcher then warmed up the crowd nicely with a solid performance. He released a mix tape last Christmas called 'Simply the Best 3' featuring some of the UK's hottest artists; Wretch 32, Ghetts and Loick Essien, hopefully with a change of recording label we'll hear more from Scorcher sometime soon! Not too sure about the denim on denim though?!

The late great Amy Winehouse's friend Tyler James also took to the stage and performed his new single 'Single Tear', Radio 1 live lounge cover of Disclosure's 'Latch' and his collaboration with Kano 'Worry about you'. Ghetts enthusiastically jumped on stage and played a hell-raising set with his live band. Nearing the end of the set he threw his shirt into the crowd revealing his well toned body, sending some of the female fans ballistic.

Sway performed an enjoyable few songs including 'Speeding' and 'Level Up'. He brought out two of his newly signed artists Raptor and Tigger Da Author. Tigger provided an interesting contrast to most of the evenings acts singing with a jazzy blues sound, a talented voice will hopefully take this artist further.

K Koke brought with him some hard core female fans including one who strangely felt the need to throw her bra onto the stage. Although, he put on a performance that impressed his fans it seemed to be a little chaotic mainly due to the need to get through the schedule before the 11pm curfew.

Headline act Kano pulled out all the stops, starting with his impressive new collaboration single with Benga, 'Forefather', a fierce meeting of Grime and Dubstep. He was joined on stage by Sway and Tigger to perform 'Still Sway and Kane' His performance was powerful and energised the crowd into dancing, it was a shame the set couldn't have been longer. Kano ended the night with his 2004 debut solo single 'P's & Q's' which really got the crowd going. Watch out for Kano when 'Top Boy 2' returns to our TV screens later on this year.
